Eve!

I'm listening to Christmas music on Pandora now with a cup of hot chocolate. If I could sing, I would totally want to join an a cappella group just to sing Carol of the Bells, my favorite Christmas song.

I can't believe 2010 is almost over! It's been a great year and I hope 2011 will be equally good, if not better!! Happy holidays to you!

Here are some cards I have made to get into the Christmas spirit!

Fonts

In middle school there was a girl that I'll call J. She told me that I would grow up to make my own font and she was kind of right because I do like the alphabet. She was also the one who said I looked like a Siamese cat and I was slightly very hurt. She thought she looked like a sea otter. Psh, she did not was not cute enough.

Um, change of plans.

This weekend I went to Craftland (craftlandshow.com) and saw the cutest things ever! Craftland is a store that sells things by local artists year-round, but every year they hold a show throughout the month of December that features items from over 200 local and international artists. You should check it out if you're in the area! They have things like little buttons that say things like "Respect Apostrophes!" and "I use capital letters!" and "I read the dictionary". Yes, I am that cool. I also found a signed copy of Zombies Hate Stuff by Greg Stones and magnets and felt earrings and jewelry and and clothes and and some AMAZING CARDS!

Fomato.com=AMAZING! They are so witty with just the right amount of quirkiness. I like quirky.

So you now know why I titled this blog post, "Um, change of plans". It's because I think I'll be posting pictures and descriptions of my cards as well as interesting cards/trinkets that I find (giving credits to the proper creators, of course).

I always buy the same perfect planner every year. It's small enough to fit into a purse, but big enough to have lot's to write in. It stays open, comes with a tri-color pen, comes with stencils, and is the kind of paper that prevents ink bleeding (is that what it's called?). I bought a new cover for it and Dwight is on the back! I'm getting back into The Office again.

Speaking of The Office, here are some cards I made some time back.

It's really cold outside.

It's so cold outside, BUT it's not snowing yet in my state so I absolutely REFUSE to bust out the big winter jacket. Until it snows I am going to continue to wear my peacoat.

La di da~let's talk about hot beverages.

Hot Chocolate from Pastiche
I don't like coffee, but I really wish I could learn to like coffee because I like the idea of coffee. It's a morning pick-me-up, an energy booster. Donut shops and sandwich shops strive if they sell good coffee. Most of all, coffee brings people together. Co-workers meet in the break room to pour themselves a cup of coffee.  People meet over coffee.
"Dexter, is that you? Did you just move here?"
"Wow! Yeah. It's been so long."
"Yeah, it has been way too long. Let's catch up. Coffee sometime?"
"Sounds good!"

No one says, "Hey, long time no see. Let's catch up over orange juice."

There's a sense of unity, of togetherness,  if you hold the same Styrofoam coffee. Or an interesting mug.

Coffee is warm. Coffee is soothing. Coffee is comforting.

With that, here is a card constructed from various papers. You can't tell from the photo, but the paper is textured. A.C. Moore, I love you. Michaels, I like you too.

Hanukkah card!

It's Hanukkah!

Let's try this again!

With the great encouragement from two co-workers, Cabbage and Feather, I have decided to make a blog about my cards. Looking at cards at Hallmark and on Etsy and at Frog and Toad (amazing store on Hope) and at Pleasant Surprise (another great store on Thayer) make me lose my confidence, but hopefully if I do this for long enough I can one day make something special that could catch the eye of some super important (and super generous) person and can have my own store (name TBD). This said store will have a stage for local artists and a coffee shop+bookstore nearby and I also want to act as an art therapist and encourage people to express themselves and a card cart would be nice and....and....and this is all wishful thinking...and ..and ..I'm writing borderline run on sentences...

I hope this blog generates some readers and even if it doesn't I think I'll have fun doing it.  So if you're reading this, thank you so much for visiting!

Suggestions for cards? Tell me!

Hello world?

So...first blog post ever!

Mission: Put up my handmade greeting cards. It'll be like an electronic photo journal!

Okay, adjusting the format was tiring. Good night!
