Ummm yeahhhh paper flowers

Soooo I guess I didn't really keep my promise, did I? My last post was over...a month ago? This is terrible. What happened to meeee?

Well, here are some paper flowers that I've made now that the weather is getting nicer here in NYC. I ventured to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens this past weekend, but there still weren't too many things in bloom outside. I hope the warmer weather we've been getting changes that!

The petals are paper hearts made out of magazine papers. Each flower is comprised of about 8 hearts and they are secured with a brad in the center. The stems are just green pipe cleaners.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

My signature stick figure!
It kind of looks like me. Well, except for the fact that I don't really look that much like a watermelon!

Yes, it is!

Office decorations!

Here are some Valentine's decorations that we put up in our office. Aren't they pretty? Everything was so easy to make and we created them bit by bit during our lunch breaks. We are such a creative bunch. I'm so modest.

Valentine's Compilation #1

I'm just not able to make as many cards this year. It's not even lack of time; I just don't have the inspiration! Oh dear, this is a problem. Here are some oldies.

Birthday Pipette Surprise!

Here's a birthday card for a science-lover. The first two are standard pipette tips, but then some wacky things get attached to the end of the pipette. You can still see the marks made by the drying glue. I needed to press the card for a longer period of time before taking pictures, but I couldn't resist. I also had to give it to the recipient, haha.

Hello

Okay, okay, so my New Year's Resolution isn't exactly working out, but I'd like to think baby steps are still steps in the right direction.

Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Soooo I haven't been keeping up with this blog. AT ALL. Oops. I think after Thanksgiving I got too lazy to make cards but was busy with other stuff. Well, it's a new year and I'd like to make a fresh start! I will slowly start building momentum again.

Isn't this shirt amazing? It's the Element of Surprise! har har.

Gift bags!

I took plain black and red gift bags and pasted different papers and ribbons onto them to create cheap and "crafty" gift bags!

I received a letter today with this stamp. Obviously if I'm reading the stamp, I received the letter!! Such a funny and silly stamp.

A lawful, scientific birthday

Another variation...

I really need to find a different way to wish people a happy birthday.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Friday's Thank You Notes #21 (11/18/11)

l make a list of serious and silly thank you's (a la Late Night) and post a picture of one of my handmade thank you cards on Fridays. Have a happy Friday and a nice weekend! Thanksgiving is next week!
Hand print turkey!
Ohhh it reminds me of those kindergarten days.
THANK YOU...
-cranberry sauce, for striking the perfect balance between tart and sweet. A lot of people could learn from you.

-typical Thanksgiving feasts--meat, starch, starch, starch...oh, and the occasional green bean.

-Christmas music and decorations. Wait, let me look at my calendar for a second. Hmm, it seems to still be November. Poor Thanksgiving.

-times when you share the same sense of humor with someone.

-dreams that seem so real! Why do most of my dreams seem so real? If I'm flying or beating someone up or dating Joseph Gordon-Levitt or something, then I'll know that it was just a dream and not reality. However, if I'm having dreams about making copies at the office copy machine or taking notes at a meeting, it all just seems like reality. When I'm at work, I can't remember if I actually sent an email or if it was a dream!

-the notion that being sad makes people more creative. So, that means that if I'm not creative I must be happy. Creativity or happiness? Which would I take? Wouldn't creativity make me happy, though? GAH, I can't even think right now. I'm going to be a granny and call it a night.

-for reading! Have a great weekend.

Short Weeks

Having three or four-day weekends are great, but sometimes it's really hard to go back to work after a long break. When you have a day off in the middle of the week it's a whole different story. I luckily got Tuesday off because of Election Day (I don't know of any other places that had the day off) and it was great--I went in on Monday, got a break, and then returned for a three-day work week. NYC also happened to have amazing weather on Tuesday!
Looking good, Central Park.
THIS is what autumn should be like.

Cue Vitamin C's "Graduation"

To all of those people who are so smart and are graduating early (or to all the people who couldn't get enough credits to graduate on time):
